Whats the difference between machine translation and computer-aided translation tools?
Machine translation programs “translate” according to their own syntactic rules. Computer-aided translation programs merely analyze the individual source sentences: if a CAT program finds an identical or similar sentence – or text segment, to be precise – in its translation memory, it will suggest the found material as a possible translation. The human translator can then decide whether to accept, edit or reject the suggestion.
