Whats the difference between low and high skateboard trucks?
The main difference is the axles on low trucks are 1/4″ lower than on mids. There are very few companies producing true high trucks, most are mids. The other difference is the geometry of the truck. Lows are set at a different angle to allow for the lowered kingpin, compromising turning ability. Go with mids for the bowl setup. The greater turning ability will be much needed. I prefer an old school pool board for bowl skating. The wide width makes it more stable, longer wheelbase lessens speed wobble and the wide tail lets you keep tour foot planted firmly on the board. If you like the popsicle stick shaped board, get one that is at least 8″ wide and has a good size tail. There’s also a hybrid shape that has a new school nose and body and an old school tail.
