Whats the Difference between LCD and Plasma?
There are few parallels between Plasma and LCD displays. Both can be hung on a wall, but that s where the similarities end! Plasma Technology Imagine millions of minute fluorescent tubes, each of which can display red, green and blue pixels. These tiny fluorescent chambers are filled with a mixture of neon and xenon gas. At the front of these chambers are phosphors that are sub divided into three pixels of red, green and blue. At the rear are electrodes to which a voltage is applied. This voltage is used to ionise the gas in the chamber which in turn generates ultraviolet light and excites the phosphors to glow in a way required for the picture. LCD Technology The display consists of two parallel panels that are transparent. Between these panels is a liquid with tiny individual, electrically controllable crystals suspended within it, (hence the name Liquid Crystal Display). When a voltage is applied to the crystals they align so that they either pass a certain amount of light (generate
