Whats the difference between junior & dwarf rabbit food and adult rabbit food?
Junior and dwarf rabbit food has different nutritional qualities to adult food. It is higher in protein and fibre and vitamins. This promotes good growth without the young rabbit having deformities such as calcium deficiencies, fur loss (bald patches) etc. The fibre is higher to promote healthy digestion. In dwarf rabbits this food is used because dwarf rabbits need that little extra nutrients. They tend to be livelier and their metabolisms quicker. But if you find your dwarf rabbit becomes over weight then swap to the adult food over a month period. All rabbits vary. If an adult rabbit ate dwarf food it would over time become obese, and may develop problems such as bladder stones due to the high protein and calcium content.Obesity can lead to Sticky bottom syndrome as the rabbit will not be able to clean itself, and possible develop organ failure too. Personally as a general rule i do not feed my dwarf rabbits the junior dwarf food. They have the adult pellets. Pellets are only a small
