Explanation: Imply means to put a suggestion into a message; for the giver of information to suggest something indirectly. Infer means to take the suggestion out of a message; for the information receiver to guess using specific evidence. All communication has a message, a sender of the message, and a message receiver. The sender implies something, and the receiver infers it. When something is implied, it’s suggested but not out rightly stated. If something is inferred, the receiver draws a conclusion that is not written in black and white. Based off of your behavior, someone can infer that you are a clutz, but if they subtly let you know you, they are implying it. Example Sentences: My father’s tone of voice implied that he was very upset with my behavior. Because of his tone, I inferred that I was going to be punished. The professor implied that there would be a test the next day when he told the students to review the chapter before the next class. The students inferred that there w
