Whats the difference between HMO and EPO plans?
Blue Shield offers two different types of plans, depending upon where your child lives. The county that your child lives in determines if they receive HMO or EPO coverage. In our HMO plan, you pick a Primary Care Provider (PCP) whom you will see each time your child needs care. In our EPO plan, you can pick any doctor who is part of our Blue Shield Healthy Families EPO network each time your child needs care.
