Whats the difference between henotheism and polytheism?
My dictionary is much more precise than the ones quoted above. It says: henotheism – Belief in god (of one’s tribe etc) without asserting that he is the only God. From the Greek heis hemos one + theos = god + ism It’s a polytheist’s cop-out clause. One can be a henotheist and a polytheist, or a henotheist without necessarily being a polytheist.
