What’s the difference between hand waxing and polishing the paint?
Just as it sounds, hand waxing is simply the application of a topical wax treatment to a vehicle’s paint by hand, not using any rotary or orbital polishing equipment. Hand waxing is effective as a short term topical process to enhance the shine and smoothness of the vehicle’s finish and can give some minimal protection from oxidization and paint fade. The benefit of polishing the paint is that all residual soap and other foreign topical products can be removed from the paint surface, and indeed from the pores of the clearcoat of the paint by heating up the paint through the RPM of the polishing pad.
