That’s a good question! Let’s start with the Viking’s. Historically, the Viking’s Motel was the oldest continuously operating hotel in Oregon until the cottages were demolished in 2009. Over time, the Viking’s owners assumed the role of rental agent for Pacific Crest Condo’s as well as one or two other oceanfront properties. That role continues today. Pacific Crest is the condominium development just south of the historic Viking’s property. These are privately owned condo’s governed by a homeowner association board of directors. Greenstone Inn, completed in May 2010, was built on the site of old Viking’s Motel. Because the Greenstone Inn is a modern development implementing “green” technology, a radical departure from the rustic Viking’s cottages, the owners felt it merited a new name. So they christened it the Greenstone Inn.
