Whats the difference between Gelcoat and Topcoat?
Gelcoats are formulated for application to a mould, they are air inhibited which means surfaces that are left exposed to air remain tacky, this is essential when bonding resins. Topcoats are generally thinner than gelcoats and most importantly have a wax solution added to them, this wax prevents the tacky surface. Topcoat can be used as a final finish on the fibre side of a moulding, as a protective layer on a roof or pond or inside a boat bilge or lockers.
