Whats the difference between freshmeat.* and fm.*?
On the freshmeat news server itself and others this hierarchy is called fm.*.We didn’t feel that this name was very self-explanatory; and it is also not likely to be assured in the future (there is an official top-level domain “fm”). The renaming is only done within our own news server and only for the display in your newsreader. The article itself still has “fm.something” in the “Newsgroups:” line.
