Whats the difference between exclusive and non-exclusive beats?
Non-exclusive means that you purchase the right to use the beat, but you don’t own it in anyway. Like when you heard Eminem on the Scary Movie Soundtrack, the movie had a non-exclusive contract to use his song. But Eminem still owns it and still receives the royalties from every time that soundtrack is sold. If Eminem sold Scary Movie the beat exclusively, he would be selling his ownership of the song. Eminem would of received a one time fee (and it wouldn’t be $49.95), but he would never receive another penny. This is how Michael Jackson ended up owning the rights to the Beetles music. And now if a movie wanted to use a Beetles song then they would get a non-exclusive contract from whoever is taking over Michael Jackson’s face.
