Whats the difference between “enhanced interrogation techniques” and torture?
Well, unlike what was done to John McCain, these “enhanced interrogation techniques” don’t break your bones, they don’t kill you, they don’t leave you unable to raise your arms to your shoulders, they don’t leave you unable to walk, they don’t make you sick and then leave you lying in your own vomit and feces until you develop bedsores from it, they don’t involve being held out of helicopters at 1000 ft and being threatened with being dropped, they don’t involve starvation or water deprivation. All they involve is being blindfolded and having water poured on your face. I don’t doubt they are unpleasant and fear inducing. They do not, however, do permanent harm.
