Whats the difference between embryonic stem cells and “regular” stem cells?

0

Embryonic stem cells come from embryos (actually blastocysts) – a ball of about 30 cells that are four or five days old. Adult stem cells are taken from actual living humans. The reason there is such hope regarding the use of embryonic stem cells is because they are able to become many different types of human cells. Where adult stem cells can differentiate into a variety of types of cells, including bone, blood, and skin cells, embryonic stem cells can differentiate into many more types of cells, including muscles and nerves. Adult stem cells simply cannot differentiate into these types of cells.
