What’s the difference between dial-up, cable, DSL and T-1 internet connections?
Dial-up is simply you dialing in to a service provider’s server, through which you gain access to the internet. A cable connection looks just like, and often is on the same line as, your cable TV connection. DSL is a more complex dial-up connection, which allows you to have an “always on” connection through your phone line, while still being able to use your phone to make calls. A T-1 line is a dedicated internet connection. While it offers the fastest connection, it is usually too expensive for most small businesses.
