Most counselors who add life coaching to their repertoire of services do so in order to broaden the kinds of clientele they can serve. Whereas counseling is primarily about healing, coaching is primarily about growth. Counseling clients are experiencing some degree of personal brokenness, while coaching clients begin their work in a state of relative health & stability with a desire to grow into more of the fullness of who they feel God has called them to be. Coaching is a natural “fit” with counseling – they go hand-in-glove. As clients move from a state of brokenness to a more acceptable state of health, they can then transition through coaching to an exceptional state of health/life/functioning.
