@Jasmine Bell, and everyone else: I hate when people talk about Catholics as if they understand what we believe when they really don’t. I’m not going to get into a debate on here b/c it’s pointless (better to be face to face), but I will try to briefly set the record straight as to what Catholics do believe. Catholics do NOT concentrate on Mary more than Jesus. Catholics are CHRISTIAN – we follow Christ our Lord, Savior, and God. Our relationship with God is the most important aspect of being Catholic, though sadly, many do not live up to this. We don’t worship Mary, we just honor her. This just gives more glory to God, like how admiring a work of art is a compliment to the artist. Among the ways we honor Mary is her role as our spiritual mother. We read John 19:27 and see that, since the nameless “disciple” at the cross is representative of all faithful believers, Jesus is saying “Behold your mother” to all Christians.
