Whats the difference between career counseling, career coaching, and therapy?

According to Career Coach Academy, a Certified Career Counselor has a Master’s Degree in Counseling or Career Development and is licensed by a state agency or certified by a national or state organization. The counselor’s services include administering and interpreting psychological tests. That’s not my background and not what I do for my clients. As a coach, I focus on helping clients define and clarify career goals, develop strategies, and take other steps that enable them to design and achieve a rewarding career. In other words, I partner with them to “open up” the future they want for themselves. On the other hand, I do not tell or advise them what they should do with their lives and I do not act as a therapist. If I feel there is a need for such services, I will suggest that the individual consult a qualified professional in that field.
