Whats the difference between buying a plug and a regular plant?
Not a lot. A plug is smaller and has less root mass and less vegetative mass and therefore is somewhat more fragile. Of course if you plant it in the right conditions and keep it watered regularly it will do just fine. The only real differences are that if you’re planting a plug in the fall, you want to plant it as early in the fall as possible to give it time to establish. Likewise, if you live in a hot area of the country, you’ll want to plant as early in the spring as possible (and here it depends on how heat tolerant the plant is too) to make sure it’s well established when the really hot weather starts. Also, with a plug, there is more potential for over-fertilizing, so you’ll want to use something light, if you use anything at all when you first plant it, something like root stimulator and starter solution, preferably at about half strength.
