Whats the difference between burlesque and vaudeville?

0

Burlesque was a lot of cynical or ridiculing comedy along with striptease and dancing girls. Vaudeville was really all kinds of talented entertainment. Some entertainers played both types of venues. Vaudeville acts usually traveled and Burlesque tended to be in the same theatre. Since these were both forms of live entertainment, new technology (movies and esp TV) led to the demise of this form of entertainment. It used to be that you could still visit the Catskills and find this type of entertainment.
