Whats the difference between Bs/Ms and Btech/Mtech?
In the States, the different degrees are granted by different institutions. For example, SUNY Buffalo grants BS degrees in Engineering while Buffalo State College grants the Btech in Engineering as well. The BS and MS degrees are generally considered to be from more rigorous programs, and of higher caliber than the BTech and Mtech degrees. So no, it’s not whether you participated in a co-op program- at least not in the US. I can’t speak for elsewhere. To show the difference, take a look at what ABET, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, looks for when they review a school’s program. Download the pdf files on their criteria for the two different programs. It’s here: (http://www.abet.org/forms.shtml) You’ll see right off that BTechnology grads can, for example, conduct, analyze, and interpret experiments; yet BS grads are expected to be able to design them as well.
