Whats the difference between BIRT filtering and a SQL WHERE clause?

0

BIRT provides filtering capabilities in both the data set editor and in the Property editor for report items. These filters can include JavaScript expressions, including calls into your Java code. BIRT executes such expressions in its own data engine. The SQL SELECT statement also performs filtering in the WHERE clause. In the case, the filtering happens on the database, and cannot include JavaScript code: it must include only SQL valid for your target database.
