Whats the difference between Automatic and Program mode?

Automatic is pure point-and-shootthe camera sets aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, autofocusing mode, flash. We much prefer Av (Aperature Priority), where we set the aperture (for creative control of Depth of Field) and camera selcts the appropriate shutter speed. You can set some or all of the other parameters, apply exposure compensation, and decide when you want flash.
