Whats the difference between an individual NetID and a department NetID?
An individual NetID is associated with a specific person; only that person is authorized to use the account for any reason. If the accountholder loses NetID eligibility, the account is deactivated. Departments and organizations at GW (including academic departments and programs, administrative departments, research centers and institutes, and student organizations) may establish NetID’s in order to have organizational email accounts. A department NetID is not used to access any system other than the email system. The account may have more than one authorized user, and it is not deactivated when an authorized user leaves GW. It is only deactivated upon request of the department.
