The FBI has jurisdiction through out the United States and Territories. **** A Homicide Detective works for the City and County Police; or a County Sheriff, if there is not a County Police. The City Police only has jurisdiction within the City limits. The County Police and/or County Sheriff has jurisdiction within the County lines. **** The FBI, the City Police, and the County Police/Sheriff all have persons with special training in Homicide Investigations. Sometimes, the FBI will assist the City or County Homicide Investigators. **** I will not take this any further, because it just becomes more complicated.
