Whats the difference between an arm triangle and the darce choke?
They work on the same principles, but an arm triangle involves you being basically face-to-face with your opponent with your bodies being very close to parallel. A D’arce choke is usually done when your opponent is on his side and you’re on your knees. In the arm triangle, the arm that encircles your opponent’s head usually has the palm facing your opponent’s hips; in the D’arce, the encircling palm is usually facing the opponent’s head. They are also part of the same family of chokes as the Anaconda/Gator Roll choke, and the Reverse Arm Triangle; all are arm chokes that involve pushing your opponent’s own arm across his neck. In fact, if he rolls to his back during a D’arce choke, you have a reverse arm triangle choke.
