Whats the difference between abdominal fat and visceral fat?
There are two types of abdominal fat: visceral fat and subcutaneous fat. Visceral fat (also called intra-abdominal fat) is stored beneath the muscles and wrapped around the internal organs. Subcutaneous fat is stored between the skin and the abdominal muscle wall. Of the two, visceral fat is more worrisome as it is linked to high cholesterol, high insulin, high triglycerides, high blood pressure and a host of other problems.
