Whats the difference between a warrant officer and an Officer?
a warrant officer is between the ranks of the enlisted and the officers. Most warrant officers are mustangs meaning they were enlisted at one point and moved to a billet that required them to to hold an officers position but were too old to go through ocs to gain commisioned officers status. Some warrant officers had trainning that qualified them to do a job that a officer holds but do not actually have a college degree so they are given the rank of warrant officer. Many helo pilots are warrant officers. They were trained as civilians to fly but never went to college well they would come into the military as warant officers as they do not have the degree to be commisioned but they have the training to do the officers job. That was what was my understanding ADDITION: Ok I looked it up and everyone was a little right and a little wrong.
