Whats the difference between a totalarianism governement and a socialist government?

A totalitarian government is one where a single person or group of people control all aspects of their citizen’s lives. They control all business and often forbid private ownership of property. They also control all sources of information, not allowing their citizens to hear any criticisms of the government. They maintain power indefinitely through often violent means. North Korea is an example of a totalitarian government. A socialist government is responsible for providing most of the major social services such as health care and electrical power generation. Many socialist governments also control the major industries and resources. There is, however, private ownership of property and most business is privately run. The key difference is that most socialist countries have a system of free election of their governments similar to ours. Canada and most European countries are examples of Socialist governments.
