There are two types of renewals: Paid Fire Protection Personnel If you are employed by a paid fire department or other regulated entity, your department will renew your certificate. Certificates for paid fire protection personnel expire October 31 each year. For paid certificate holders, continuing education (CE) completed after November 1 of the previous year counts towards renewal. Your fire department verifies your continuing education and pays your renewal fees. The department keeps records of your CE on file up to three years. Individual Certificate Holders If you are a certfied individual not employed by a paid fire department or other regulated entity, your certificate will expire April 30 each year. For individual certificate holders, continuing education (CE) completed after May 1 of each year counts towards renewal.
