Whats the difference between a Life Coach and a Mentor?
If I were to share expert knowledge with you so you can emulate and improve your skills in a specific area or task, then this would be mentoring. A mentor would normally have a proven track record at doing this skill or task. So the language would be “I can break down the steps and show you how to do it ‘My Way’, that worked for me.” If you want to understand this better, take a look at a seminal Coaching book by Timothy Galway called ‘The Inner Game of Tennis’. Mentoring is often used hand in hand with Life Coaching but on it’s own does not allow for someone’s full potential to come out as their own abilities, styles, and experiences are not concentrated on.
