The number of visitors is the total number of individual IP addresses that visit a website. Every computer or Internet connected device has a unique IP address. Usually, in the case of a computer, there is one person sitting at that computer. So, generally speaking a visitor is the number of people who visit a particular website. In general, Page Views are the number of web pages visited by those people. So, if website has 10 people that visit, and each of those 10 people visit 3 pages, then the website will count 10 visits or 10 visitors, and 30 page views (10 visitors x 3 pages). A hit is a different idea altogether.
