A Full Staff Member is expected to contribute regularly to the project and try to keep up-to-date on things. An Assistant Staff Member is not obligated to contribute as much, but also wields less power and has a lesser say on the major decisions. Basically, those who put more into the project should be somewhat rewarded for it.
