Whats the difference between a cold & the flu?

Colds (which are mostly just annoying) are relatively mild. You can feel pretty awful with a cold but it isn’t going to kill you. Symptoms usually include a blocked/runny nose, maybe a sore throat, very mild fever. Aches and pains and cold and hot flushes are not usual for a cold-that would suggest flu. The flu can actually exhibit quite severe symptoms and can pose a serious risk to young children and the elderly. There are variations of flu which can be quite serious, and several flu epidemics have struck in the past which have killed many people (for example, the flu epidemic after World War I, which is though to be closely related from the recent avian flu strain).

The flu is alike to the cold, except with more severe symptoms.
