Whats the difference between a BCC and a BCI?
The only difference between the two is a slight subspecie difference. Along the lines of scientific organism classification, they break down the same to the very last category – Subspecie. BCI is an abbreviation for Boa Constrictor Imperator, BCC for Boa Constrictor Constrictor. There’s really not much difference between housing the two, and they look very similar too. A trained eye will be able to tell between a BCI and a BCC. BCI’s usually originate from Colombia, Mexico and various islands around South America. BCC’s are usually from a warmer climate and reside in countries including Brazil, Suriname, Guyana, Venezuela, Peru, and a few other regions of South America. A good way to differentiate the two, visually, is to look for “widows peaks” on the saddles (the striped, dark markings on a Boas pattern).
