If you order your shirt’s from someone else, over 90% of the time it’s going to be made with Plastisol ink. What is Plastisol ink you ask? Well, it’s a PVC base system that “sits on top” of your shirt, as opposed to dyeing the shirt like water-based inks. That means the feeling of plastisol is ALOT rougher than water-based is. And you can’t iron the graphic without it smearing. Now you can get Plastisol to be as soft as water-based inks, but that’s only if you add more and more chemicals- another reason we don’t use plastisol. Plastisol has been known to lead to cancer, and is extremely harmful to the environment if not disposed of properly. Not just the ink, but all the chemicals used to clean plastisol ink is again extremely harmful to the environment. Automatic presses/lazy people only use Plastisol, whereas water-based ink is A LOT harder to use if you don’t know what you’re doing.
