Whats the deal with the sliding scale? Does paying more give me any advantage?
Stone Soup is making an effort to be accessible to people of different economic backgrounds. For this reason we have offered our shares on a sliding scale pricing system, so that people can choose what they will pay for their share. If you want to be part of our community but will have trouble coming up with the money, then you should contribute towards the lower end of the sliding scale price, and pay in installments that make sense to you. If you feel like you would like to help us continue to offer shares to lower income folks, please do so by contributing above the average sliding scale price if you are able to. All shares come the same, and are blind to the price each member paid. The price it costs the farm is the middle of the sliding scale, and what we hope to see is some people paying more, so that some people can pay less. Those who contribute for their share above average are in effect subsidizing those who pay less, so that the farm can offer some shares to low income folks
