Whats the deal with noise canceling technology?
There are two types of noise cancellation, passive and active. Passive noise canceling works by sealing out the ambient noise. When properly sealed, E.D.G.E. earphones provide 35-40 dB of sound reduction, more than twice as much as the most popular active noise-canceling earphones. Active noise canceling earphones attempt to remove outside sound by identifying the audio image and applying the inverse image of that sound to cancel it out. Since circuitry is used in these earphones, unwanted audio artifacts are often introduced into the system. The best active noise-canceling earphones reduce sound about 22 dB.
