Whats the current stamp price//How much to mail a letter?
The letter rate is 44 cents for the first ounce, BUT the Post Office has come up with another classification so you can’t be sure if 44 cents is enough. If the envelope is larger than a business class (long, white) envelope, or thicker than 1/4″, it falls into a higher category and the rates are higher. And since we, the public, can’t tell if the letter is thin enough, we have to go to the Post Office and get it weighed and let them tell us which classification it falls into….So now in addition to letter rate, we have the “large envelope” rate (88 cents for the first ounce), then the package rate ($1.22 for the first ounce).
