Contrary to popular belief, the tire pressure printed on the tire’s sidewall is the MAXIMUM inflation pressure for that tire, not necessarily the correct pressure for the vehicle the tire is mounted on. Keeping the tire pressure at maximum will result in a harsh ride, poor handling and rapid tire wear for most vehicles. The OEM tire size on the 02 Sonoma 4-door is 235/75SR15, with a maximum inflation pressure of 44 PSI. Since it’s unlikely that your Brother’s truck is being used to haul maximum capacity loads, I’d recommend he keep his tire pressure between 35 and 40 PSI.
