What’s the connection between NLP and hypnosis?
NLP – Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Neuro refers to the nervous system and our five senses. Linguistic refers to language and how words and certain language patterns influence and reflect our thoughts, feelings and actions. Programming refers to how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are programs of our habits and that can be changed for better. In relation to hypnosis NLP is also referred as a type of conversational hypnosis. Created in the 1970’s by Richard Bandler and linguist John Grinder, NLP is a system of interpersonal communication. It is based on the techniques used by three master psychotherapists at the time – Fritz Perls, Virginia Satir and Milton Erickson.
