I hear America Singing – Walt Whitman Speaks about and celebrates the working people of America. He gives honor to those who are living their lives to make America a better place. There is no mention of race or skin color. I too sing America – Langston Hughes Langston Hughes is pointing out the injustice of bigotry in America. They work hard as well. He is saying that their (the black man’s) hard work is just as noteworthy as any other American’s is. He envisions and promises a day when the black man is also valued as Americans and their hard work is recognized as an integral part of what makes America beautiful. Hope this helps.
