For Chiapas, flying to Mexico City or Cancun (usually $200-500) then busing to San Cristobal ($70 and around 14 hours) is usually cheapest. Tuxtla Gutierrez is the closest airport (one hour away). If you’re coming to Oaxaca, flying into Mexico City, then taking a 6-hour, $35 bus ride to Oaxaca is almost always the cheapest, but there is also an airport in Oaxaca City.
