Whats the biggest obstacle fire and life safety educators face in instituting programs that yield measurable results?
Rhodes: Time and lack of knowledge are the biggest obstacles. Most fire departments in my state are volunteer based and are just in schools one time a year to teach safety classes for a couple of hours. With lack of time, they do not take the time to give pre- or post-tests and, as a result, no evaluation is done and no measurable results are found.
