Whats the biggest mistake people make when they e trying to do French Country?
I think using too many colors and too many printed fabrics is the mistake. You can also mess up with bad reproductions or pieces that seem out of place. And when you add too many modern elements, it goes south. Or too many colors. You have to limit your palette severely two colors, maybe three, never more. What’s your favorite room in the house? The dining room. It has architectural details I really like the columns, the arched window, the buffet that’s made from an antique Spanish balcony. I love the scale of the table and chairs, and the way the curtains follow the architecture of the room with that dramatic curved curtain rod. It feels pretty grand when you’re in there, but in an intimate way. In some ways it’s the simplest room. It’s cozy, and it makes you think of family and friends. You just described the ideal dining room warm, but with a big sense of occasion. It’s also kid friendly. That’s a synthetic on the dining room chairs…if you spilled red wine on it, you could get it
