Whats the big problem with Windows Vista?”
The biggest problem with Vista – now where to start. Might be easier to list what’s right about Vista. The biggest problem is that it’s written by Microsoft. The software is slow, kludgy and unreliable. You ask why the Microsoft people don’t do something about it. You seem to think that they are in the business of providing good sound reliable software; Wrong!!! They’re in the business of selling software to make a big fat profit. Nothing says that their operating systems or software has to work well or be reliable. Try a real OS e.g., Linux, Unix or one of its variants. Stable, fast, multi-tasking and reliable. we installed a multi-user admin programme (written in C) in 1994 running under SCO-unix; at times we may have up to 80 people connected simultaneously and running on a PC server. After 15 years there has never been any down time. Now, that’s serious reliability.
runs in the background and so you don’t know if you are accomplishing what you are setting out to do, it is like a snail to crank up in the morning compared to my mac, where I turn it on and it works right away (wonder of wonders!) and above all, the rolled over cursor as a click, without even clicking, which can make you go 10 pages away from where you started when you are on the internet, or in one recent case, mail out an email to about 10,000 recipients twice, which can trigger a ton of spam filters and get the company I was doing the work for banned as mad spammers. Compared to XP, Vista is torture. In fact, if you buy a ‘business level computer’ from Dell, it has BOTH operating systems on it. That is why they are abadoning it. My biggest fear is that Windows 7 will be worse. Though I have to say, the most recent version of VISTA on my friends new machine is so much more like a Mac, maybe Microsoft has learned a few lessons from the real experts…
