Whats the big difference between Adobe InDesign and Adobe Pagemaker?

0

Hello dhardma1, First off, Pagemaker is no longer supported by Adobe. InDesign is able to import Pagemaker files and work with them. There will be some differences. InDesign works with fonts a little differently, sometimes calling them a different name. You may need to search them again. The major differences between the two Desktop Publishing programs is that inDesign is a lot closer to what the other Creative Suite programs are like; Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. Their use of tool pallets is the major difference, although, I think that the latest version of Pagemaker started using separate tool pallets (although it was called something different back then). It takes some getting used to, but inDesign offers a lot more DTP power of the two programs (and even Quark XPress). Also, Adobe offers a lot of support to inDesign users including video tips and tricks. They even have InDesign Users Group support. Check out the Adobe web site.
