If your ATM card has Maestro or Cirrus you’ll be able to use it in cash machines in Italy, although you will pay a fee for every transaction. I suggest you bring both your ATM and also a credit card for restaurants, hotels, car rental etc Be sure to carry some Euros with you at all times though. You may be surprised that even in touristy areas some stores do not accept credit cards. This will also come in handy as toilets in tourist heavy areas are coin operated.
