Whats the best way to teach myself piano/keyboard?
If you go about it alone you will only succeed in TRYING to teach yourself. I got a teacher, and progressed much faster than if I went at it by myself. Your teacher helps push you, they give you a reason to complete a piece and go in depth to understand the meaning of a piece before you move on. In regards to keyboards v.s. pianos keyboards are crap. No matter how expensive, or how great people say it is, it will never stand up to an authentic, decent acoustic piano. Starting of on a keyboard is fine but never settle for one. You will probably feel like you don’t have much control over a real piano when you first switch because your dynamics will be all over the place. You should always prefer a real piano over an artificial piano. God, words cannot describe my hatred of keyboards or “digital” pianos. (Had to settle for one , but FINALLY bought a real one and boy am I so much happier!
The quickest and easiest way to teach yourself how to play is to make flash cards of each piano note on the bar and memorize what each note is. Make cards for the F clef and the G clef and by time you sit down to a sheet of music, your hand will soar. Learning what notes are what on the piano is easy-it’s merely a pattern and I am sure you could look that up on youtube!
