Whats the best way to start a story about a girl getting brain surgery- fictional?
Well, one way is this girl is walking down the street trying to look cool and she gets thrown against a wall by some dude on a rickety skateboard. Her head hits the wall with such force the top of her head pops off and her brain falls out and lands (with a sickening splash) in the river. A passing good Samaritan (the story is set in the middle east, did I say that) dives into the river, retrieves the brain and gives it to the dude on the skateboard to run down to the hospital to be surgically restored then reinserted in the girl’s cranial vault when her skull is being reconstructed using empty egg cartons and a heavy-duty stapler (plus various surgical tools and devices and a lot of high-flown medical jargon of course). Anyway, when the girl comes around after the surgery it becomes immediately apparent something has gone terribly wrong, because . . .
